This project formed part of Offaly County Council’s ongoing Active Travel programme to improve safety, accessibility, and connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists. Tower Plant & Civil Engineering Ltd was responsible for the full execution of the works, including traffic management, health and safety coordination, and liaison with utility providers.

The scope included:

• Removal of the existing road surface, footpaths, and kerbing
• Installation of new slipform kerbing and approximately 2,255m² of macadam footpaths
• Drainage and public lighting ducting, including a micropillar chamber
• Resurfacing of approximately 3,775m² of roadway
• Installation of road markings, traffic signage, and raised pedestrian crossing ramps
• Resetting of existing ironworks and installation of a retention socket system
• Final clean-up and full site reinstatement using a mechanical road sweeper

The scheme was successfully delivered, improving the active travel network within Tullamore and contributing to a safer, more accessible environment for all users.
